Adam L. Tayman
Managing Optometrist
Dr. Adam Tayman is the owner and managing optometrist of Oceanside Family Optometry. He is a second generation optometrist and a native of San Diego. After graduating from Northwood University with a business degree, he attended Western University College of Optometry and graduated with honors. During college he was on the Dean’s List and a member of the international optometric honor society known as Beta Sigma Kappa.
Prior to attending Western University he spent 5 years living in Utah and skiing the Wasatch Mountains. Dr. Adam Tayman now lives in Carlsbad with his wife and two year old son, and surfs the north county beaches of San Diego.
Steve P. Tayman
Optometrist
Dr. Steve Tayman was born in New York and grew up in Hollywood Florida near the ocean. As a teenager he learned to surf and fish and traveled to California where he discovered Wind and Sea beach in La Jolla. He knew San Diego would be his home, and after graduating with honors from Southern California College of Optometry at Fullerton in 1972, he returned to San Diego and began his professional career.
Dr. Steve Tayman specializes in excellent patient care and his recommendations are based on carefully listening to his patients needs and understanding their lifestyle. After a thorough exam, he often prescribes special glasses for ease at the computer or 1-Day disposable contacts for children or the sports-minded individual. Dr. Steve Tayman also enjoys fitting contact lenses and co-managing LASIK patients.
Outside of work, his family is his highest priority. Dr. Steve Tayman enjoys hiking and bike riding with his wife. He is a committed surfer and seldom misses a swell at our local beaches. Every summer him and his two adult children go on a surfing safari to a distant shore. Fishing is also a close passion and you may see him at the La Jolla kelp beds fishing for bass.
Dale W. Kimball
Optometrist
Dr. Kimball has 38 years experience in the field of general optometry with an emphasis in contact lens fitting. He is therapeutically licensed in the treatment and management of ocular disorders. Dr. Kimball received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of California, Berkeley.
When Dr. Kimball isn’t working, he enjoys golf, learning classical guitar, and is an avid reader. He also enjoys vacationing in Mexico and spending time at Ponto beach in Carlsbad.
Joseph Koltun
Optometrist
Dr. Joseph Koltun is a seasoned optometrist with over thirty years experience. After graduating from Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Koltun returned home to New York City to begin a private practice and also worked at Peninsula Hospital and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. In 2008 he relocated to Carlsbad California. When Dr. Koltun is away from the office, he enjoys cycling.
